not if you want it to sound good. the mastering facilities i have
dealt with have told me 12 minutes per side at 45 rpm and 18-20 mins
per side at 33.
it is technically possible to put up to 35 mins per side at 33 rpm but
it won't sound good at all.
all this talk about "fitting the grooves closer together" is true,
except that if you want to be nitpicky about it, there is only one
groove on a record. it's really a question of how tightly packed you
want the spiral. since the needle has to "wiggle" from side to side,
you want to have more horizontal spacing between the walls of the
spiral to get better sound. and of course 45 rpm will sound better
because there's more signal running by the needle per unit time.
re hidden tracks - the one at the end of "orblivion" is quite
excellent and really bumped the album up a notch in my estimation.
