I found this on Billboard Online. The general idea is that, starting today, MTV will be showing more videos and less crap like Singled Out. It also said they'd be showing AMP more often. Maybe they'll even show it at a time when people are actually awake! Wishful thinking, I guess. Anyway, here's the article if anyone cares: ------------------ MORE MUSIC ON MTV: Beginning Monday, MTV will renew its focus on music, programming 10-20 more hours of videos each week. Billboard's Brett Atwood reports that the majority of the new time for clips will come at the expense of reruns of nonmusic programming, such as "Singled Out" and "The Real World." The changes are part of MTV's plan to alter its image, a move that comes in the wake of the March 11 release of a joint Recording Industry Assn. of America/National Assn. of Recording Merchandisers survey that concluded that MTV no longer significantly influences music consumers and is perceived as "another entertainment outlet on cable, rather than a music-oriented cable channel." Although MTV is canceling the long-running "Alternative Nation" and "MTV Top 20 Countdown," it is not abandoning specialty blocks of music programming. New shows include "Popular Videos People Prefer," which also bows Monday, and a hip-hop show, tentatively titled "Phat Ass," to debut in May. Current shows "Indie Outing," "120 Minutes," and "Amp" will be shown more often than before. ^^^ ------------------
