The Chibo Matto video was pretty good . . . I'd have to say it was one of the
most original ideas I've ever seen on Amp or any other video music show. It
seems to me that a lot of the videos I see on Amp were just an afterthought,
like someone threw it together at the last minute. I think the visual
statement is almost as equally important in a video as the music. Some of the
videos, are cute, like Daft Punk's, some are too glossy and commercial, like
Faithless' "Insomnia," and some look downright cheap, like Tortoise's "Ice."
This is a shame; the visual image should be as well thought out as the music
it accompanies.
Interesting idea but it could have been more fully realized. Much better
was the Chibo Matto video by bjork vid. director Michel Gondry, which I
thought was pretty freaking brilliant and totally original. Gondry is
probably the best person making music videos these days. BTW, on the
video tip I saw the new beck video last night (directed by beck) and
there is a scene where him and his band are all dressed in black with
thin black ties and slicked down hair & strapped on computers and synths
in a dead on immitation of Kraftwerk.
