So,
Glad to see that a few people have picked up on the value of the "Jazz
Satellites" compilation on Virgin UK! Many of the artists that are featured
on this double disc set have been so influential (and sampled!) on many of
the artists discussed on the idm list... Herbie Hancock, 23 Skidoo, Ornette
Coleman, Organisation, Roland Kirk, Ry Cooder, Miles Davis... have all
played a major role in shaping the sounds of everyone from Squarepusher to
Red Snapper to Tortoise to Bedouin Acent (no wonder he's featured too!)!
Eagerly awaiting for Volume II with hopes of tracks from Liquid Liquid, A
Certain Ratio, Wolfgang Dauner, Patrick Gleeson, and other influential "jazz"
artists who ought to be heard by all on this list!
