i suppose a HUGE (but 'discreet') round of applause should go to L.B. for getting us all to talk about new stuff. let's hear it! give it up for the Man! :) Cup of Tea released two LPs recently; Spaceways' _Trad_ (COT002) is a splendid set of experimental Downtempo with pronounced jazz influences. Statik (Sound System)'s _Tempesta_ (COT003) is even better. elegant dubby Downtempo; something like SHJ with half-speed breakbeats and pouty vocals (hmm.. wouldn't that be EBtG? OUCH!). a really classy act...despite a rather obvious pilfering of the melody from "Diamonds Are Forever" on "Essential Times." wasn't there also a mini-LP of Spaceways (or was it S.S.S?) versions? keep track of Cup of Tea, as they have some very cool friends. Spaceways' "Japanese Flute Remixes" 12" featured de(con)structions by DJ Food, Coldcut, and Funki Porcini; and S.S.S. earlier _Winter Collection_ (an LP-sort of thing) brought in Smith & Mighty and Spring Heel Jack to wreak dub and d&b havoc.
