Well there's accessible (Boyz To Men, Mariah Carey, Dolly Parton) and then
there's Orbital, who in my opinion, try to make music with some harmonic
and emotional connection to people. Their tracks are not any less complex
or involved than other IDM musicians, arguably they've got more going on.
But they have never gone in for the sharp-stick-in-the-ear-fuck-yall
stuff that seems these days to be the key for some sort of virtual
street credibility.
I can take it hard as they come -- I was listening to stuff like Ornette
Coleman and Pharoah Sanders when most of you were in diapers. But
I maintain that Orbital have the shit. It doesn't have to be your
cup of tea, but it deserves respect on it's own terms.
And yes, Sean Deason's "Razorback" has some tastey moments.
