The Concept stuff ties in with Mike Ink's Studio and the Basic Channel / Chain Reaction etc. stuff. It may sound minimal but a good dj can bring a dancefloor down to the emotional whisper of this stuff without losing the energy of the room. While much of techno gets louder and noisier (again) these guys are bringing in a very subtle emotional style. the changes are very slight and especially on the hawtin stuff, very well planned. when it happens (a slight small change, quiver) after 3 minutes, it feels like a major change even though it is very minor. a tweaked decay on an effect etc. (Rob Hood mentions that after this amount of time your expectations relax and your mind no longer looks for changes. at this point the dancefloor all of a sudden becomes excited. very strange.) Interesting that dance music has split into the very fractured-form and the very minimal. more than one way to skin a cat, kids. please don't choose sides. the other thing about all these records is that none of the sounds are identifyable.(sp.) no obvious drum machines or naked synths. 10-4 over and out good buddy. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Chris Sattinger reprogramming our reality through disco live PA : Milwaukee DBN New Years Eve new records coming on : Synewave, Subvoice, Sativae NEW RELEASES - DISCOGRAPHY - INFO http://www.tc.umn.edu/nlhome/m082/satti002/ChrisSattinger.html US Techno House Business Resource : http://www.tc.umn.edu/nlhome/m082/satti002/DanceLabel.html ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
