Good morning, campers!
Here's some good news (for me, anyway) : There's a record shop 2 minutes
from my house which I've never been into on account of the sign outside,
saying 'indie rock metal' Anyway I see an advert for the Enforcers triple
12" hardstep comp and its a big list of shops where you can get it, and
one of them is this very record shop. So I go in, and what do I find -
a great big dance section including at least 2 feet of dnb vinyl - Hooray!
So here`s some of the stuff I picked up:
The Bowling Green - The Mingle EP
Excellent Drum and Bass inna IDM stylee. More interesting the Plug, less
frenetic the SquarePusher with killer doo-wop vocals - you guy's would
love this one. Does anyone have a track list - I think mine must be a promo
white or something.
U.N.K.L.E - The Time Has Come EP - Mo'Wax
This is a rerelease, right? Anyway its got two great plaid mixes full
of scratching and smooth plaidy melodies, and a cool Portishead mix
featuring more scratching and searing electric gee-tar.
F.S.O.L - My Kingdom EP.
The A side is frankly, dull. What a dissapointment, a boring beat and
a repetetive flute sample. The B side is more like it - a mixture of ISDN
and Lifeforms elements.
Tassilli Players - Outer Space LP - Universal Egg
This is good one. I got a bit bored of Zion Train's electronic dub excursions
but this one had such great song titles I had to buy it - 'One Giant Dub
for Mankind' 'Deep Bass Mission' etc etc. Its cool though - good minimal
deep dubbiness lots of wierd echoey noises i.e nothing unexpected, but still
nice.
