this may be all old news and questions, but What The Hell?
1. Raygun has an article on drum and bass stuff, and if you can hack
the annoying Art-Student-On-Shrooms-With-One-Missing-Contact-Lens
layout you can read some interesting chatting with Tom J Sqrpshr,
photek and big daddy luke vibert (whose "redone" mixes are eating
my brain). pretty cool, but don't bother buying the magazine -
just stand in barnes and noble reading it and looking hip.
2. in the aforementioned article, it is mentioned that Plug's
"drum and bass for papa" is supposed to be released on
astralwerks in the US (i think that's what it said) sometime
in the future - s'true or no?
3. photek's "the hidden camera" is...ahem...the BOMB. fat jazz
bass, delightful misappropriation of jazz textures, and some
sort of IDM-ish blurbling and droning in the background make
this, egads, drum and bass of a most intelligent persuasion.
whatever that means. the interesting thing is that the bpms
on this ep never get into the jungle-massive-buk-buk range
but that it still has that d'n'b flavor. very good.
