I'm not sure if this was meant as a negative comment (that is, Advance can't be compared to Frequencies; the latter is majestic and things can't really be done any better :), but I still can't help being a bit disappointed with "Advance". The overall sound of the record is *very* clean, and I kind of miss the grunge (!?) that first made their sound (a sound that Tied Up - a track of pure excellence, by the way - sort of maintains). Too many tracks on Advance sound too familiar - I know I've heard it all before - and some of their textures are nothing more than your average ambient wishy-washy. Not to say there aren't any good tracks on it, and it may be that five years of waiting has made me expect too much, but the overall feeling, as I said, is that of disappointment.
