Idm? :the tracks seems quite short, so for some reason that made me assume it :was more of a dancey/techno type record than ambient-esque/emotional :idm. anywya, I don't have much $ , and I was thinking about gettting it and :wondering if any lfo fans out there could help me out with info/input :) I would call LFO's _Frequecies_ one of the true classic techno albums. It's an immaculately constructed bleep record, not a clonk out of place. I haven't heard _Advance_ yet, so I can't compare them, but the impression I've gotten is that _Advance_ hews closer to the current IDM "mainstream" -- i.e. longer tracks, polyhytms, etc. That's all well and good, but what made _Frequecies_ so special to me was it's purity: all muscle/no fat -- tight, economical grooves, bubblicious low-end and retro-futurism that paid homage to the likes of Kraftwerk & YMO. For an example, listen to the track "Freeze". There's not a single extra note there, every particle of sound seems like it was placed there by a sculptor. So, um, yeah, I like it. -- dave walker, detroit art services marmoset@mich.com
