True story:
A few weeks ago I was hanging out at the local once-a-week night,
Smooth, with some other members of the local Techno Oldfarts
(ages 25-33 or so) Society. Russ "Ferox" Gabriel was spinning
and he did a half-hour electro mini-set. An elderly friend
and myself [:)] went absolutely nuts after getting to hear
"Time Space Transmat", "Planet Rock", "Tour De France", "Rockit",
and "Numbers", alongside some newer Ectomorph and RAC tracks,
in quick succession. Of course, the highlight was hearing one
16-year-old say to the kid standing next to him "This is what I
think they call 'old-school'" (you could hear the quotation marks
in his voice.) I felt like whipping out the Geritol. :/
On the plus side, another group of teenagers were spotted on
another part of the floor breakdancing. I wonder where they
picked it up...
