In response to the positive review for the new Jake Slazenger LP on clear records, I went and bought a copy. My general impressions are good, maybe not quite as enthousiastic as the last reviewer, as there's no doubting that this is Mike Paradinas at the controls. Behind the general funkiness and wicked beats, lies the traditional noisy, and aggressive electro. Most of the time this is not a problem, as I really like it when it works.... but on a few tracks this noisy collage of sampling and cheese just doesn't do it for me. Fortunately, there are enough tracks here to satisfy the inner man... (take for example, track 5, Daytime Kiss.... an excellent example of original breakbeats harmonizing with beautiful synth... a golden moment) but I can't say this is a total winner.... Tango'n Vectif will always be my favorite. ------------ Overall 9/10 You'll either like it, or like it a lot. You won't hate it. ------------ Blister Level 7/10 (Not quite hardbag in-your-brain techno, but does have the occational fast-as-fuck adrenalin rush track that'll soak your shirt, and turn your feet to chopped liver) Welp, just have to wait for the new ?-Ziq disc... Salsa ____ (!) Forget..
