I went out and did my shopping bit this weekend and here's what I got: Blue: Resistance on Sabers label. Brilliant German electro-dub stuff. Have to listen some more, but on first listen it's like Kraftwerk on Dub. Chill Out or Die IV: once again a great comp from Rising High. The Wagon Christ track is great. So is the Radiowave track (anyone know about these guys), it's little like ambient techno with acid lines hovering around, very good. There is also a Spacetim Continuum remix of a MLO track which is nice. The Wagon Christ sound of late has been my favorite, very good. Vulva: From The Cockpit (Rephlex) another good ambient techno release. These guys have a great sense of mixing nice percussive beats with lush synth backgrounds. There is a great use of a high pitch sounding pad that most of the melodies are on, and mixed in with the bass sounds and beats, it all just really works well. Aural Expansion: Surreal Sheep (SSR) Haven't listened to it much but sounds very nice. I'd like to get my hands on the Autechre remix 12". And for the Winner of them all: Banco de Gaia: Last Train to Lhasa (Planet Dog): For $3 more I got the limited edition 3 CD set and it's worth every penny. I sort of liked the first BdG album, but could get into it alot, something about the way the Eastern samples were used! But this new release is just a masterpiece. The samples are wonderfully used, the rythms on the tracks with them are just great, and there is a great deal of music to be taken in. There is a track that I'm not sure if it's a tribute to The Orb or Pink Floyd, probably more The Orb. The track has the infamous Apollo samples and a fantastic dub fills and runs for a good time. This is going to be a favorite of a lot of people I think. Rush out and get your copy. Later, Mohsen
