Spanners rules, by far the best Black Dog work and an amazing record
released so far this year. The thing that kept jumping at me was the
amount of Eastern sounding samples worked seamlessly into the rest
of the music, simply great. The coherency of the pieces is another point
that has kept the CD in my player since last week when I bought it.
Some other notables from past few weeks: The Source Experience, 9 Lazy 9 (
on NinjaTunes, i.e. very trippy jazzy stuff with some tracks bordering ambient-
techno sounds), Laswell/Inoue collaboration, and Paradise 3001 (I wish this one
had some more fattness to its sounds, but the music is great).
