That's basically what I meant. While he may choose
more ambient, more tech-house, more dub, more
whatever sort of musical notes to play, they all work
in that same sequence, which is why he's a very
limited producer. All his records are like working off
a blueprint, he just plugs in different sounds. Even the
Gas stuff is just his Profan/Auftrieb/etc. style with a huge
echoing boom effect over the top. If you like his style,
you like his style, but Studio 1 really is something just
about anybody could produce and his Profan/Freiland/
whatever stuff is only a couple notches removed. I suppose
you could make the argument that anyone could paint
a Rothko or a Klee or a Pollock as well, and that the technical
aspects of the work have to be separated from the effect
and the ideology, but...whatever.
