from Melody Maker, dated Sept. 17th. Orbital, the ORb, Laurent Garnier, Leftfield, Spooky and The Dust Brothers are just some of the names who have donated exclusive tracks to "the Serious Road Trip"- a three CD benefit set for Bosnia, which has been compiled by Drum Club's Lol Hammond and Charlie Hall with Ben Turner and Push from Melody maker's Orbit section. The compilation feathres 21 exclusive tracks which are all new cuts, mixes or out-takes from the leading names in the UK dance world. All of the profits will go to Serious Road Trip, an organisation which has been providing humanitarian aid to Bosnia and Croatia since June 1992 . It's main objective is toun regular convoys from Coratia to Bosnia, targteting the areas that have been hardest hit by the fighting. They also run numerous children's projects designed to provide psychological relief from the suffering. The idea for the compilation came about when The Drum Club's Midi Circus projects imprint emerged as the only record company in the UK prepared to release Hardbag's "Ceasefire", after major record companies and small independent dance labels refused to touch it because it was a non-profit making record. The track, which feathred live samples of Bosnian chilldren collected by Matt Bumble (one-half of Hardbag with DJ Red Marc), was finally released with all profits donated to Serious road Trip. The next logical step was to put together an entire album, and most of the dance industry was forthcoming, keen to dispel the myth that people invollved in club culture are hedonistic and uncaring. Drum Club have already been involved with Serious Road trip after playing live with Orbital at the successful Fun-Da-Mental vs Sugarlump party at London's Linford Studios last October. The night raised #5000. Already, MMTV have chosen the release of this new compilation album as the lead story on their regular news bulletins. the full tracklisting of the first Cd is as follows: Hardbag: "Ceasefire", "Laurent Garnier: "Rex Attitude", Leftfield: "Release the Dubs", The Dust Brothers: "Be That Thing", Secret Knowledge: "Nuttin' Dub", The Aloof: "circumstances", System 7: "Desir(live)", Finitribe: "UGT '94", Higher INtelligence Agency: "Delta", Drum Club: "space Angel STation(starburst mix)". the second Cd features: Lionrock: "soundtrack in a palace of delights", Spooky vs Chapterhouse: "we are the beautiful", Loop Guru: "Yayli(Unity Vibrations)", Trans-Global Underground: "El Hedudd(10 beats to the Border)", Banco De Gaia: "White Paint", Pressure of Speech: "Pressure of Speech", Ege BAm Yasi: "eight Ball", Pip(from DiY): "Midnight Vibration", and The Orb: "Plateau". the third Cd contains an excllusive live cut of Orbital performing "Remind" at this year's Glastonbury festival. The LP is exclusively available to Melody maker readers from next week and will then be available in the shops. The release will also be marked by a special one-off party in a central London location feauring DJ sets form many of the artists included and special appearances from the UK's leading DJs who were unable to donate tracks for unavoiadable reasons. for further details contact Ben Turner on 0956-367182. mikebee :::mikebee@freenet.fsu.edu::: --everybody's kung fu fighting-- ///////Kicks more flava than Mister Rogers' got neighbors////////
