It's strange that Americans know as much, or more about the Dutch
'scene' as a lot of Dutch people themselves. It's probably because of
the fact that the press here thinks 'obscure' foreign artists like Dan
Curtin or Matt Cogger (who _are_ very good, don't get me wrong) are
much more interesting than domestic musicians like Stefan Robbers,
Random XS and The Connection Machine. The only one that gets proper
media coverage is Speedy J, but that's probably because he's on Warp....
(Also, please don't think Dutch mags are full of articles on Matt &
Dan).
Speaking of Speedy Jochem, he's doing a FSOL-like gig here on september
the 30th.
There's also a lot of shit coming from the Netherlands of course, just
listen to all the gabber carbage. Fortunately gabber is dying a slow
death at the moment......
BTW, me and a couple of friends are thinking about starting a Dutch
mailing list so watch this space!
Cheers,
