ahh, a new subject. So, how was that warp video on mtv europe, anyway? And has anybody seen the STC Alien Dreamtime video yet? What are they like, computer animation, live action silly putty, interminable pictures of terence mckenna? Anyway... [fletcher] - [] - [sick of discussing discussion]

They do... i've had both for a few months now. The FSoL Lifeforms Shortform video is out on Virgin distributed by Picture Music International (PMI) and its very very good, but short. 13 mins of mostly computer generated worlds and other stunning stuff. AI2 is also good though not as impressive but it clocks in at 40 mins and each video provides more than suitable visuals for the soundtrack that is mostly taken from the new Ai2 compilation. Warp seems to have put this out under a sub-company called WarpVision. Any idea if any distributors might still have these? Like would WATTS have them by chance? (Though I'm not sure WATTS even distributes videos...) Thanks, -djkc

Speaking of videos, and I hate to bring this up again... but where is that video tape of mostly MTV Europe videos that was supposed to be going around to certain IDMers? first it was missing in action, then it was stuck somewhere, then it was missing in action again and then it turned up again... so where is it now? if you have it, please pass it along and share it like the person before you did. I was near the middle of the not very long list but it never made its way here. At this rate I guess we'll never get started with the second tape which was supposed to be even better. *sigh* ___ / / / / / / _ __/ (_/__/ / (__ (__ ___/

I'm sorry I can't help being in Australia, but the store that ordered it in for me had a few copies of the FSOL video sitting on their shelves, when I was in there last Sunday. So its still floating around. I have 3LUX-3 and while it's ok, there are many better such videos out there such as FutureShock, Motion (Warp AI Video), and FSOL's Lifeforms (which is simply the best of the lot , although too short). If the tape of European MTV idm videos ever shows up i'd appreciate it being passed my way. In return I could probably tape one or some of the above for the person who sends it to me. :) Regards, John /-------------------------------------------------------------------\ | JOHN BUS (aka. Nope. It's just a video put out by Prism Leisure Video (I think?)... i'm at work and the videos at home. :) Anyhow it contains such artists as FSoL, Orb, Banco De Gaia, Brian Eno, etc and has suitable accompanying visuals that are mainly AutoDesk 3D Studio renders but also video montaging and other well known and used video effects. Overall its quite a nice video.

Most of the soundtracks for the visuals (I think there is 5 separate videos) come from the AI2 comp, but one of the videos soundtrack is Polygon Window from the first AI comp. and the last videos' soundtrack is BassCadet by Autechre which doesn't appear on any of the AI comps, but their album on Warp instead. i saw that video on oddly enough the USA cable television network early (3am) one morning in between crap movies. i loved it.. despite being obviously a computer-rendered sort of thing it had a very definite organic feel to it and worked perfectly with the music. i would love to find out why a big cheezy commercial cable network best known for it's _really_ bad docudramas showed an IDM video (it was credited to Warp UK records at the end i noticed too, not the US distributors of Warp stuff) and if they have ever done this before.
