Uh, not neccesarily. I think it would be silly to try to come up with a strict, all encomposing definition of ambient music or IDM. The D in IDM stands for dance so naturally the discussions on this list will focus more on music with beats, but it doesn't have to. Likewise, there is alot of music that is dubbed ambient that has beats. What I'm saying is that although there is some crossover, most people should be able to decide for themselves where a particular discussion belongs, hopefully this will not become an issue. Andy
