Hello, I finally received my promo-sampler-disc with Seefeel's "Plainsong" from Quique. So, my question is: How representative is this track of Seefeel in general? AND, is this track the best of Seefeel? the worst? about average? Thanks! - respect to all, Ken ken@snowcrest.net (primary address) (if no answer, try ken.stuart@tigerteam.org )

It's fairly representative of their sound on the album "Quique" and earlier - I don't know about "best" or "worst", it is pretty typical. "Pure/Impure" or "Polyfusia" (P/I with their first EP added) contain "Minky Starshine", a much more minimal, ambient 10-minute piece, and remixes by Richard James and Sine Bubble/Locust, in addition to more typical songs. And their recent Warp EP has three songs which have a sharper, brighter sound, plus a *very* minimal ambient track which I find a bit boring. The US-only "Polyfusia" is probably the best place to start, it's a good deal more varied than their other releases. -- Andrew Norman, Leicester, England | Jedermann sein eigner Fussball nja@le.ac.uk |

Personally, I think it's a below-average effort for Seefeel. In fact, I'd say every other song on _Quique_ (which, incidentally, is not only my favorite album of the year so far, but everyone seems to know that because every time I walk into a record store, it seems to come on within five minutes) is better than "Plainsong." If you get a chance to listen to _Quique_ in a store, or a friend has it, check out track 2 ("Polyfusion") and track 6 ("Charlotte's Mouth"). I think these two tracks, besides being very good, sum up Seefeel's sound very well. I'd get _Quique_ first, then _Polyfusia_, and if you like both of them, then you might go pick up the "Starethrough" EP, which is not bad, but nothing special either. - Adam J Weitzman INDIVIDUAL, Inc. weitzman@individual.com

Nothing special?? I love Quique, the afx remixes and everything but ... Starethrough is Seefeel's /best/ as far as I'm concerned. (most of my friends are of the same opinion) Have you ever listened to it at maximum volume, and preferably with a speaker in each corner of the room??? Try it! and experience lift off .... Go with the flow, Helen
