i stumbled across this new for $7 today, but i hadn't a clue if it was good or not. the mix titles suggested ambient and trance to me, but i'm not a big killing joke fan, actually. is this any good?

Dunno about this, but there a 'pandamonium' single with a Dragonfly mix on it that's pretty cool acidy trance. Is this what you meant? Or is there a 'millenium' also? -kc

There are actually 3 recent Killing Joke singles; "Millenium", "The Pandemonium Single", and "Pandemonium In Dub". Of the 3, "Millenium" has the lowest mix of Techno/Acid/Dub to "normal" mix ratio. All 3 CDs are at home, so I can't give you specifics, but "Millenium" has 2 "normal" straightforward Ministry-cum-Middle Eastern riff-a-rama mixes (like the one that was on MTV's "120 Minutes" last night, alongside a clip of Kraftwerk doing "Pocket Calculator" from the 1981 tour that suddenly appeared out of nowhere, causing me to nearly fall off my chair ... but I digress). For IDM'ers, the "Pandemonium In Dub" single is probably the best bet. A long remix of the old KJ chestnut "Change" courtesy of Kris "Thrash" Weston is included. (I mention this even though Thrash takes great glee in flaming me over on alt.exotic-music and alt.music.brian-eno (-: ) - Greg

Ahh, but you miss the two excellent "Spiral Tribe" remixes from the original reissue of "Change".

There's actually another remix CDS out with a cover that looks like the Spiral Tribe remixes cover, but I forgot what's on it. I assume you meant "you" to be the pluralistic form. As for *me*, I ain't missing nothin' - I bought that sucker as soon as I saw it :-) - Greg
