There was, however, a newer release from ART which included the new stuff by
Black Dog Productions (as Balil), Kirk Degiorgio and his aliases (Future/Past,
As One, etc..) that might have been out in the last 3 months. The cover art was
supplied by BDP and I <<think>> that Kirk is the one that runs ART..
Has anyone picked up the New Electronica album by Kirk= As One "Reflections.?"
Very nice, subtle stuff. He picks up where a good portion of Detroit (sans
Juan, Carl & a few others) left off a few years back. He doesn't rely solely
upon deep heavy 909 or 808 kicks, which is very refreshing. One of few who can
get the original Detroit "electro-jazz" flavors down.. I highly recommend it.
As far as other stuff..in da same mode.. I would recommend the Irdial Records
stuff.. This music blows my mind since I have never once seen a record in
America (which includes record stores in Detroit, Chicago, Cleveland, Columbus,
Cincinnati, etc...) but is so close to the Detroit sound too (Jon D.. we gonna
hear anything about this?? 8] ) NeuroPolitique and In/Sync are two albums
right off hand that get my extreme regard.. very, very, very good stuff. 1994's
vote for the most underrated label. "In your hearts * Not the charts" is their
motto.
Well, this is kinda long winded.. so, hopefully this won't be a completely
bo-ring opinionated article..
