This is the month of the Aphex Twin on the cover of every magazine (if you
hadn't noticed). But the one I actually shelled out for that had a pretty
good article is B-Side.
B-Side is kind of an odd duck -- glossy paper, lots of adverts, but it retains
some giddy fan-zine prose. I found it on a larger newsstand in Santa Fe,
but it should be available in big city book stores.
The cover is a collage of pictures of Dr. Alex, Autechre, Caberet
Voltaire, and the obligitory printed circuit board.
Inside are interviews with the Orb, Autechre, the Cabs, Taylor 808,
and Evolve Now, and a sidebar in which Sean Booth does an
alphabetically organized name-check.
Pleasant reading if nothing else. What no one's done yet is deal in
the English Language press with the German scene, like Namlook and
Deep Space Network. Someday, right?
