Subject: Pommes Fritz [fletcher's little story and review]
Well, in a mad rush after work yesterday I hurried
to HMV in Harvard Square to see if they'd gotten
Pommes Fritz in as they said they would. I was a
little worried because I remember when they got
Fortran 5's Bad Head Park, they only had about 2
copies, so I wanted to be sure to get my copy
of the little album before they were all gone.
Anyway, they have about 30 copies of the thing.
Ten on the 'techno wall', ten in the dance orb
section, and another ten in the pop orb section!
I hurried home and popped it in my cd player, and
I like it. I can't say off hand that's its my
favorite orb song so far or that tehy've gone off
in any revolutionary new direction, but they're
still the orb!
The songs are interesting, I don't have the disc
with me, but I can do an overview from memory.
Oh, it's worth noting that Fehlmann and Sun Electric
have coauthor credit on all these songs and they
appear to have been recorded at Sun Electric's
studios. Maybe they're all about food because of
the Kitchen influence???
The Orb - Pomme Fritz
subtitled The Orb's Little Album
9:02 Pomme Fritz (Meat 'n Veg)
This song is pretty good, it has a kickin orb bassline and a lot of
interesting sounds. I think it takes a while to get going, it's
not until 4 or 5 minutes in that I really think they get a groove
going, but it is a nice groove once it's going.
8:04 More Gills Less Fishcakes
This song is just a bit weirder than the previous one. I actually
don't remember too much about this one.
7:12 We're Pastie to be Grill You
Very funny, lots of weird voices fading in and out, fast and slow.
Quirky and weird
7:44 Bang 'er 'n Chips
7:27 Alles Ist Schoen
These are two different mixes of the song I will presume to call Pommes
Fritz, they share samples and sounds.
2:05 His Immortal Logness
Very odd, a really nice melody interrupted by large things falling out
of the sky, that sort of thing.

This is a single, and not a 'little album', at least in my book. I
believe that three of the songs are versions of Pommes Fritz, two
are just weird and I can't remember the last one well enough to
categorize it.
I do love the art though
