Here's some quick reviews of the stuff I bought this week, well let's go: Eat Static "Implant" 2xLP - Planet Dog -------------------------------------- Survivors, Abnormal Interference, Implant, Dzhopa Dream, Panspermia, Area 51 (Nucleonic Mix), Cydonia, Uforic Undulance When I was on my way to the record store to buy this one is was thinking "Hope there is another one like Gulf Breeze on it", how happy I was when I found out that all but the more ambient and laid back tunes have the fat analog bass lines and the funky'ness of Gulf Breeze of the first Eat Static album, this one again has quite some samples from science fiction movies and other things in that direction. Lots of analog and acid on this one. FAR BETTER than the first, God I really like this one. Go check it out! Astralasia "Whatever Happened To Utopia?" 2xLP + 12" - Magick Eye ----------------------------------------------------------------- Astral Navigation, Genesis - The Spark Of Life, Seven Suns, Storm In A Bong Bowl, Utopian Biosphere, Deconstruction, Ignarus, Aphasia + Gunga Din & Deconstruction (Nevada Mix) on the extra 12" This album has an atmosphere which comes close to the Eat Static one, though it is much more laid back and has a certain eastern mistique around it, lots of tribalish percusion and quite a positive vibe. Really think this one has some beautiful songs on it ... Hawkwind "Decide Your Future EP" 12" - 4 Real --------------------------------------------- Right To Decide (Original Mix), The Camera That Could Lie (Original Mix), Right To Decide (Radio Edit Mix) by Alien Prophets, Assassin (Magick Carpet Mix) by Swordfish/Astralasia This isn't what you call IDM, but still I want to give mention to this one, I recommend this one to anybody who likes the Eat Static and Astralasia stuff mentioned above, especially the Astralasia remix of Assassin. Pete Namlook "Seasongs Greetings, Spring" CD - FAX -------------------------------------------------- 4 untitled tracks/indexes Well this is more of the Namlook minimalistic stuff, lots of twittering birds. Not as miserious as most other of Namlook's stuff. I'm quite happy I bought this one, also because it just cost me half of what most FAX stuff costs over here in Amsterdam.
