another pointless mail about pointless purchase of even more tunes.
Havent got time to review them properly but if you want to know
anything specific ask me.
picked these up at a record fair today, some of them are quite old.
Waxworth Ind. 'roy revisited / tinkles bubbles' [Sabres of Paradise WB 001]
Seems quite nice idm stlye whasname. I picked it up because
i) Waxworths' 'take the book' 12 on sabres (no. 5?) is excellent, and
ii) these WB catalogue numbers seem ridiculously limited edn. Anyone
else got any WB ones? I have the BLUE ep which has a WB#, presumably
by the same blue as 2ep on sabres, except i like it more. Only ever
saw it once - good thing i bought it! Also the ltd. 7" that came with
the sabresonic 2lp on Warp had a WB no.....
West India Company - 'oh je suis seul' (Wetherall Mix) [edns EG]
Never heard of this b4, apparently it was A.W.'s 1st rmx. (1990).
One side is remixed by AW on his own, other by Alex Patterson aswell.
Both are goooood. anyone else got good old wetherall mixes? this one
seems much more in the staightforeward dub+beats approach that I love,
rather than the more recent tripped out weirdness mode.
Candese - you took my love [passsion, 1991]
this is FSOL under a pseudonym they tried in order to get a club
hit, as its old style housey with a bit of vocal. Nice tune that doesnt
sound so badly dated as a lot of the ravey stuff they did at this time.
Anyone got the Mental Cube (FSOL) 'Chile of the bass generation' 12" ?
I just have the track on the Earth Beat lp - quality! just wondered if
there were other good tracks/mixes on the orig 12.
also got..
Zuyuva (?spelling) 'grabbing nandi by the horn ' [nation]
sounds like nice tribal-ethno job.
RHC - fever called love - hardfloor rmx
no suprise here, but quite good...
Curve - Blacker3-2
Like it !! Cheers for the review in idmt, jon.
Bjork - violently happy - masters @ work rmx -10". These 10" promos were
a fucking annoying idea. for those of you who havent seen them,
they did a series of 4(? well ive got 4) 10" remixes by
Underworld, Black Dog, Sabres, and Masters at work. All were
ltd. to 500 copies even though Bjork is now totally popular...
Also they did a single sided 12" promo by the sabres of
'one day' - anyone heard/got? They all seem pretty good 2 me,
but some of the mixes are available on the release singles.
for IDMness - check out the sabres 10" mixes (if they appeared
elsewhere) - both slow and chilled out with a little Bjork
chirping , and the Black dog ones (Im sure one of these
'anchor song'?? was hidden on one of the cd singles.)
Chris Giles.
