In addition, they also dispense with the silly samples that pollute so many breakbeat recordings." ... Ok, I agree with you on one thing...Orbital's music does sound fresh today (check out Instinct's latest ambient comp...Orbital's "Belfast" shows up there as well!) but there is a point where you have to think (well, I do at least) that there is too much hype towards certain music artists like Orbital. "X band can do no wrong." etc...and when you add the factor in that other artists (in fact a WHOLE genre) is ignored by most people (and slagged off by the press for the most part) you have to wonder...or at least I do. And certainly IDM music listeners listen to music most people do not (I know I do!) so why has the breakbeat genre been slagged off? Why isn't NME or Melody Maker or Alternative Press giving certain artists any credit? (Well, I know the answer to this, but I'm trying to get you to think! :) In the US, I know trance and ambient is all that sells. In Georgia it is the only thing. I am told that no one here stocks breakbeat records. Why? Dunno. One artist has pointed out that he could get his trance creations sold, but no one would pick up any breakbeat tracks he ever did. A shame too, because people are missing out! The stuff is great! (Well, what little I have heard of it!) I am not slagging off trance, or ambience, I love both! I love breakbeat as well, and a lot more...I just hate to see people write off an entire form of music...if you want me to stop ranting about this, just tell me...I don't want to turn people off, just maybe open some minds... Maybe I've said enough already! Anyway, as for the bit about silly samples polluting, I don't think that is much of the case anymore. Why not tell me what you've heard as of recent? I think Enforcers Vol. 6 & 7 are fine examples of breakbeat tracks that are way smart and don't fill it up with stupid samples. But I'm no expert! Although old breakbeat kinda did load up on silly samples...I still kinda like those silly samples. :) Peace, (\/\/)
