Several questions here, so I thought I'd amalgamate them all into one
message to save bandwidth.
Firstly, does anyone (highly unlikely) have a copy of AB3 on CD they want
to part with? Anyone know anyone who does? Anyone know of anywhere in the
WORLD I could buy it? I suppose it's been deleted and I can't find it
anywhere. How fast they disappear.... also, any word on what AB4 is? Is it
like AB3, or will it simply be a CD5/EP? Also, what is APHEX TWIN CLASSICS
on R&S? I saw it listed in the cdconnection europe database and I'm
wondering if this is a new release.
Also... for those of you who told me Colourform is being released in the
US on Waveform, is there any indication of WHEN this is going to happen? I
really want this album, but $32.98 is a wee bit steep and I don't want to
give in and let my local record store win the battle of price tyrancy.
Lastly, there are two issues concerning Lifeforms. I should be getting my
copy within the week and I was wondering if the picture in Melody Maker
(don't know which issue) with the little girl holding a jellyfish out on
her palm, on some weird planet, with the cascade morningstarcreature's
tentacles probing through the surface of the picture is the actual cover.
Who did it, if so? I couldn't find any cover credits on Cascade, and it
must be the same people.
Second issue. I heard a vicious rumour (most likely true) that Lifeforms
has been mutilated and botched to the point where Liz Fraser's vocals are
no longer present. I heard that Fontana was blocking the release of the
Lifeforms single because, supposedly, they wanted all the Cocteau singles
to come out before it. I figured they were simply delaying it. So what's
with editing the version on the album? Toni Halliday is all fine and
dandy, but come on.... What a waste to throw such art away. I bet Liz and
Robin and co. are re-thinking their situation with those Fontana bastards.
I bet Ivo wouldn't have said anything... 4AD would be right behind Virgin
in this. Damn these politics.
Does anyone know if the single was completely prevented (that is, not
pressed at all) or if there are a bunch of copies lying about in a
warehouse somewhere. If so, where do I send my thugs to steal a few
copies? Any idea if it'll be available illegally somehow? I *HAVE* to hear
it. When I heard about the FSOL/Fraser union, if only for one track, I was
blown away with antici---pation.
Such are the pitfalls of record labels, I suppose. It won't be long until
collaborations become entirely illegal altogether. :(
