Hey, they came out with Halcyon and Diversions months after their first 2 albums came out. Besides, it's about that time (ie Summertime) for them to come out with a new album. I'll be looking for it. Hm, by my count Radiccio came out around a year after the first album (green album: late '91, Radiccio: Sep '92), and the timeframe for the second album and Diversions is similar (promo copies of the brown album were circulating as early as Jan or Feb '93, and Diversions was released April '94). Anyway, the last report we heard from FFRR is that there are a few tracks completed for the next album but it won't be ready to release until around September. Hmmm, are you from Europe? I'm deprived of all the promo stuff. I've got a 92 release date on Orbital. Radiccio??? That's new to me. And Orbital 2 was released here in mid-late summer last year. Oh well, I'm still looking forward to it. Dave cdh1@ra.msstate.edu ...or you can call him Dave the Rave. ...or you can even call him Technodave. ...but don't call him discodave!!!

Plus, the only real 'new' material on Diversions was ImpactUSA and the peel sessions(which aren't even complete on Diversions), and impact had already been around for months on vinyl. the Lush rexmixes were first released on the Lush single. Radiccio is the ep that featured Halcyon (uk release). mike

No, they're saying that 13 months since the brown album came out, a new Orbital album will be hitting the stores. This isn't that incredible.

I don't know what Bob meant, but is it possible for an album to hit the stores within a month when the band is just now "putting finishing touches" on it? -kc

Well, it depeneds on what 'putting finishing touches on it' means. For alot of bands, it's undoubtedly possible because this means what it says - tweaking a few last little glitches and mastering it. For other bands it means doing 90% of the album (this is what it's been meaning to me lately :) so it's doubtful that it would be possible if this were the case. The real question is: which type of band is orbital? i predict the album will come out on... my birthday, July 22 :-) now wouldn't that be a dream? - DanN /~~~\ |~~~~\ |~~||~~~~~~| |~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| | o | | o || ||__ __| | DanN = moddan@vlad.bowker.com | \ / /~~~\ | / | | | | | t23@cyberspace.com | / \ | O || \ | | | | | Transmission 23 - FTZ - edrone | | O | \___/ | O || | | | |____________________________________| \___/ C O L L|____/E|__|C |__|T I V E \*\ \*\

What I meant was, I had heard that they had only completed about half of the songs. I know from past experience (such as SAW II) that even when all of the songs are done, it takes months to put them together, press, promote, and whatever else goes on before distribution. I just didn't want you all to get your hopes up for a June release for Orbital 3 (or whatever it'll be called), just remember that SAW II was originally scheduled for release for October 1993. Don't get me wrong though. Few people would be more excited than me to see Orbital 3 in the stores within 4 or 5 weeks. Sorry for the ambiguity. -bob

It will be called "Orbital", of course. Just like the first two albums. Anything else would be disappointing. - chris@minsk.docs.uu.se

They're actually running out of the odd colors, unless they go with a grey or something. I can't recall what "Halcyon" looked like, but after lime, brown, and mustard, what's next? I wonder if Orbital goes to the Gap for their color schemes. :-) Dave :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::dmanning@cwis.unomaha.edu:::::::: :: "What I got in my head you can't buy, steal or borrow..." :: :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::--Primal Scream::::::::::::

You're right, what was I thinking. "Orbital" isn't the name of their 1st album and "Orbital 2" isn't the name of their 2nd album. You're right, the title "Orbital 2" is indeed a figment of ffrr's imagination. Both albums are supposed to be untitled. (Or if you prefer, they're both titled "Orbital"). Cosmic

The second album is only called "Orbital 2" in the US. In England it's "Orbital", just like the first one. -- Lazlo (lazlo@xmission.com)

Will not be called "Orbital": will have a title this time. Compact Disc / Double album - Release estimated for mid-August (Internal via RTM). Cover very different from 2 previous "untitled" LPs - features pencil drawing...
