Actually, I also have no idea if the new album will be godly or lousy or something in between. I saw LFO live in Helsinki a year or so back (maybe 1.5 years). I was waiting a wonderful gig (because of the wonderful "Frequencies" album). But I have to admit it was one of the biggest disappointments of my life. They actually played totally unrecognizable material which was lightyears from their recorded stuff. It was almost like "rave" techno. Fast, monotonous, boring, stupid. They only played one or two recognizable songs. AND there was even some stupid MC hanging on the stage! Oh well, perhaps they thought we finnish are so infantile electronic music consumers that we know no better... (but we do, thank you very much) Oh, another thing. Last saturday we had an opening party for the Ambient City radio broadcast. Just in case you haven't heard about it, they send 21 days 24 hours a day pure electronic music without speaks or commercials. Much of the music is original unreleased material from various musicians around the world. (Examples: Cristian Vogel, Pete Namlook, Fred Giannelli, Atom Heart, Aural Expansion (me), Mars 31 Heaven (=Mono Junk), S{hk| artists, etc. etc. I can post a more complete list when I get the program possibly today night.) Well, about the opening party: There were 2 guys from Air Liquide (supposedly playing live but I didn't notice anything special) and german DJ's Electric Indigo an DJ Hell. What a disappointment this again. I thought they should have played AMBIENT or at least intelligent techno. But they played that usual bread-and-butter thump- thump-thump "party" techno almost all the time. (I don't know how to describe it better 'cause it's so boring I never listen to it at home so I can't really identify it. Well, actually I even don't have a record player or CD, my roommate has those, though.) Well, perhaps they weren't responsible for the style. Could be somebody had told them to play this kind of music. Who knows... Oh, and this saturday we will have Luke Slater here. Only as a DJ, though - I for one would rather see him live. Let's hope he plays good stuff. Greetings, Jouni
