I have had this album for a couple of weeks, but i never mentioned anything about it as far as i know...but has anyone heard "Fiesta Fatal" by B-Tribe (The Barcelona Tribe Of Soulsters) ? First is the track listing (I am finally at a terminal in a house with my music and a cd player nearby!) FIESTA FATAL by B-Tribe : 1. INTRO : sueno del cielo (1:12) 2. fiesta fatal!(upside '!' impossible) (6:00) 3. nadie entiende (4:12) 4. lo siento (4:45) 5. una vez mas (4:42) 6. love, tears, heartaches, devotion (5:30) (theme from Satie) 7. don't be emotional (4:12) 8. you won't see me cry (5:30) (Theme from Vangelis 'I'll find my way home') 9. te quiero-interlude (1:09) 10. REPRISE : fiesta fatal! (5:17) 11. fiesta fatal! (7:36) (Barcelona Tribe Megamix) (Theme from Belfast Child, Traditional) - _ - _ - _ - _ - _ - _ - _ - _ - _ - _ - _ - _ - This is a must album for those who like enigma. It is a very similar album in regard to style. A major difference is that the B-Tribe album is VERY spanish, and the simple fact that it contains more real instruments. This disc is loaded with flamenco guitar in both relaxing and fast paced styles...in fact most of this album is flamenco. What makes it interesting is its use of modernistic dance beats and synth layering. If played back to back, though, one might think enigma had gone south of the border. The album is almost perfectly timed with the release of deep forest and the second enigma album. It almost is as if the B-Tribe were trying to ride a few coat tails...but honestly i would choose tha B-Tribe over the enigma simply because at least it does have SOME originality. The B-Tribe claims to have been inspired by vangelis and in fact they sample bits from his older compositions. The beats are pretty much canned beats just like enigma and deep forest, but the keys and flamenco hold it together well. There are some lyrics on the record, but most are in the form of the song title repeated over and over in a semi-sexy spanish voice. There are as well a couple of 'lovey dovey' songs (Which annoy me in dance music...its like ll cool j saying "i need love"...no credibility in the emotion...) There are many track with traditinal spanish chant styled rantings which are potentially nerve wracking if played too often (if you are familiar with the traditional spanish dance music you know what i mean) But most of the chant-yelling songs are mixed well enough to cover the really annoying stuff. I would not recommend this as a dance disc for djs unless you could mix it well...but it is a nice relaxing semi dance disc...and an interesting item to add to your collection of enigma-like-world-chant groups. Thats it for that. other tidbits forthcoming... jasonosaj ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- b R o t H e R A l p H a b E t ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- j a h 1 0 @ r a . m s s t a t e . e d u -------------------------------------------------------------------------------
