On Friday I got this album by "Alien Signal" and it`s called "Celestial
Sights of the Future". It says it`s by Alex Silvi, but I`ve never heard of
him. Anyway, the album`s pretty damn amazing if you ask me, hits a perfect
balance between ambient and techno, danceable and, erm, chillable at the
same time, and pretty musical too. The last track, "Dawn Of A New Era", is
about ten mins long, ambient for 6 mins then suddenly a beat comes in and we
have lift off- wicked!
So does anyone know anything about this album or it`s creator? I`d like to
check out any other stuff he might have done.
I also got this compilation, "A Deeper Shade Of Techno", it`s a compilation
of Detroit/Detroit influenced "Real Techno" (or "pure techno", my preferred
term). It`s got Underground Resistance ("Jupiter Jazz"; top one!), Dan
Curtin, Eddie "Flashin`" Fowlkes, and others on it. It is also an extremely
smart album. I`ll do a review later...
Yeah and I saw Mu-ziq at Club Dog on Friday. Mu-ziq definitely provided the
best sounds of the night, because the club doesn`t have a chill-out room
(it`s got 2 rooms, both playing trance/techno) and the MC (MC Teabag) really
got on my nerves! It`s a good idea, having an MC at a techno gig, but he
should shut up every now and again! Thank god he didn`t MC over Mu-ziq.
Mu-ziq had a couple of mad, bald dancers like afx used to. Hey Ben, is one
of them the dancer Aphex Twin used to have or what? Most of the stuff they
played I recognised, not as wildly experimental as afx`s sets but still
quite in-yer-face. Nice to see another band using a computer on stage,
as well! DATS are for prats, that`s what I always say!
