Yes kids, I am dead. If you download the xdzebra.gif from techno, you'll
notices a striking resemblance to one ex-Nirvana member. I couldn't take the
double life of writing great angst for guitars and trying to learn how to use a
sequencer. When Planet Dog turned down my latest work, "Heart Shaped
Trancemission Cruiser" it was the last straw.
Being dead has it advantages. Gives me more time to work on the accordian
since I don't have to eat anymore.
But seriously... I stopped writing the reviews, doing the raves, and spinning
twice a week because I got burned out. I've also had the lion's share of
personal tragedies in '94. Then there is also the small project known as
xmission.com which takes up most of my time right now. The Mixmaster Morris
show was the first "rave" type event I have attended all the way through since
the incredible Orbital/Aphex/Vapourspace show last fall.
Do I have any plans for the future? There are a couple of pending concerts
that I *won't* turn down if offered. The weather is getting warmer here and
John, Grant, and I are aching to fire up the generator once again. Then I
agreed to DJ an "ambient" room this upcoming Saturday for a friend who helped
me out at several Taste raves. I only insisted that I get the soundsystem,
and I believe what I have reserved is going to chip the plaster in the small
space set aside for me. Even though I was impressed with the ambient party in
SF, I doubt I'm going to be chilling through most of the night. I want to see
how many bodies I can pack in that tiny space, and if I can keep them there.
As for the reviews, I'm kicking around a few ideas for the next level being
implemented on xmission.com. I've been exchanging letters with a certain
European label about it, but we'll see if anything happens. So stay tuned.
