I finally received a wonderful package from Herr Bartholdsen in Sweden. Yes folks, its 90 minutes of Euro MTV and other hep-cat channels that us American hoodlums will never have the pleasure of seeing. The quality is terrific and the Panasonic deck does a great job of conversion. I believe that even PAL videos look better on American TVs than NTSC videos (as if PAL television wasn't enough). Things are nice and sharp with no ghosting or major artifacts. The sound quality varies, but hell, you can always overdub it. None of the videos are really time synced. A few that are included (from memory, I didn't take notes): Some Dead Can Dance piece with footage from Baraka, letterboxed and VERY COOL! An interview with a very shy and reserved Geir Jennsen, along with a FANTASTIC video of "The Shield". This one was my favorite on the tape. The entire "flea market" video for Lush 3. The original Perpetual Dawn, similar to the "Patterns and Textures" version, but different. Sven Vath's "L' Esperanca" and ONE OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL WOMEN I'VE EVER SEEN (hubba hubba). A short Richard James interview and videos for "On" and "Ageopolis" "Oin Doing"?? And a very nice spectacular Baraka like epic video (about 15 minutes) A bit of "Chime" which looks like it was done by San Francisco's Hyperdelic?!? Kraftwerk's "Telefone" TANTALIZING bits of "Mountain Goat" and "Cascade". I WANT THESE, ARRRGHGH! Cosmic Baby on the piano A few cool bits and pieces from MTV promos. Four minutes of bad Japanese drama. Something that looks like Christian and his friends shooting home videos in the dark, and a good five minutes of channel flipping at the end. PLUS MUCH MUCH MORE. This is by no means a professional tape, but it is a fun tape, and hell, what can you expect? Its free. What I'm probably going to do is a tape chain. I'll dupe it onto two tapes. A regular VHS and an SVHS. If you can handle the latter, let me know and I'll put you on that list instead. Respond to this mail with the subject "MTV Tape" with your full snail address, phone, and email. Keep in mind that you need to dupe the tape within a few days of arrival and send it to the next person. If this doesn't work, I'll just keep future tapes for myself (and Christian has promised more).

No channel seems to broadcast their sound at the same volume as any other channel. Since I can't control the volume on my VCR there's not much I can do about it.

I like that song a lot. I wonder who they are.

Get out of here, it was just 40 seconds! :-) And I think it was Chinese.

Actually, since MTV had a "Dance Weekend" last week I've taped another 120 minutes (just keep it up while I'm at it, right?) Videos including FSOL ("Cascade", "Humanoid"), Underworld (the infamous "Rez" video), Orbital ("Belfast"), Prodigy ("One Love" - a very good video), Fluke, Pet Shop Boys (just had to include "Liberation", because it's the most fantastic computer animated video you'll ever see), more Aphex videos, and LOTS of other things I just can't remember at the moment. If you want, I'll send it to you so you can append it to the first one... - chris@minsk.docs.uu.se

[Drool] Err, any chance of sending one to the other side of the world (ie. Australia)? I've never seen _any_ idm-type videos on TV here and I'm finding it hard to take. We use PAL too and I can copy tapes (at least until my flatmate moves out) if there's anyone else on this list in Australia or NZ who wants one (not that I've ever seen anyone else post to this group from these here parts...) I might even send over a local CD or two as a swap if interested. || | ||| | | || ------------- \ / [AndrewJ] ||_|_|||_|_|_|| X E N O G E N - + - | | | | | | | | ------------- / \ |_|_|_|_|_|_|_| Sonic Loop Engineering
