Picked up two CDs today at Rhino.
Wolfgang Voight- 20 to 2000 contribution. I really like these twenty
minutes, oh yes I do, basically better than all the Gas material I've heard
and then some, lots of intricate, loose beats in the background. Worth 14
dollars? Egh....yeah.
Aki Tsuyoko- Ongakushitsu- translates to "music room" and also to "music
wife" if my kanji dictionary is to be believed. ;) We'll assume it's music
room. Anyways, a pretty big dissapointment this one, I like childisc volume
3 a lot better, there's more variance, i.e breakbeat tracks, classical tracks
etc. By the way, Aki is an associate of Nobukazu Takemura for those of you
who didn't know. The record is very pure melody, lots of nearly cheesy
synths recorded at very high quality. The effect of the album is a trip back
to childhood and it succeeds in that aspect but not nearly as much as
takemura's work or childisc volume 3. One track stands out though,
"Fantasia", so I'll probably come back to this album, it might grow on me...
I should've bought the Fantomas CD...
