Hi all: Don't know if the On-U sound applies to IDM (or vice versa), but has anyone heard the new African Head Charge lp? IMHO, there's a definite link between "trance", "ambient", and tribal musiques -- whether ADRV Crash Worship, Deep Forest, or AHC. Comments? I'm new to this list and haven't yet got a feel for it. Just throwing out a very high recommendation for an album that fits the concept of intelligent *dance* music more than alot of other things these days Shawn Rudiman "Synthesexual" on Technoir Audio They just had a release party last night, and I got to pick up the album. It's very good music that works on the dancefloor and in the headphones. His sound is heavily influenced by classic detroit techno, but its by no means a totally dancefloor album, with some downtempo cuts that would be totally at home on AI or even Warp, some vocoder electro, soulful electronic funk etc..
