sorry to all that were inconvienced by my last jazz related post...the
private e-mail just didnt get through.
Well to continue the ongoing thread of world music vs. idm, I have to offer
the most outstanding fusion of the two since TGU and Muslimgauze. Ijust
bought a $9 12 track ep of Loop Guru's "Paradigm Shuffle" "Hope" and
"Shrine". I can't find any dates on this but man you have to hear it.
Made almost entirely from tape loops i believe, these tracks offer the
music in pure and rare ethnicity. In this marvelous format you get the
track in its most basic and ethnic form, then you can hear the progression
move into a more a idm'ish stance and then finally by the 3rd or 4th mix,
the final dancefloor stomper emerges. Focus is mainly on mid east music
with some crosses into bangrha(?) and Indian styles. Never quite ambient
but more of a gritty-down and dirty-shakin your ass with the funkiest bass-
i wanna move to the third world to promote raves-is Ravi Shankar available
for a collaboration with Orbital-why do fez's look ridiculous on me-i have
a hashish pipe that is four feet tall and made for five people to use-you
get the picture...
Thump.thump.thump.thump. Does the World Bank make loans to techno musicians?
listen to it buy it groove to it
