A good reply to a bad thought, but I'd like to add this: Within the past month one of the larger threads on IDM has been the one about musical roots. The whole POINT of that thread, which many people responded to, was that there are an infinite number of backgrounds... A vast amount of past musical experiences that have brought us each to "techno" or, specifically, IDM. EXPERIENCE = PERCEPTION I personally have found (to repeat a thought I had posted earlier to this list) that MY musical experiences are CUMULATIVE. What this means is that Pearl Jam sits beside Jarre, William Orbit, and whatever ELSE on MY shelf. It amazes me that whoever posted that first excerpt missed the whole point of that discussion. And there was NOTHING "humble" about your "Opinion" (IMHO). Elitist. b.
