I'd have to agree. Most of the music called "ambient house" is more like house with ambient influences. This isn't to say some of it isn't great, because I love both of those Caroline Records "Excursions in Ambience" comps. (The first one a bit more than the second, despite all the Orb remixes on the 2nd.) The Heavenly Music Corporation's "In a Garden of Eden" is closer to ambience-- only one piece has beats at all. Or the Bill Laswell disks recently discussed here. [...] |get "thursday afternoon" by brian eno - now THAT'S ambient. Ayup. Or what I'm listening to right now: "Ambient 4: On Land". Is there an ambient mailing list? Or are this list and the klf/orb list the closest it gets? --- C J Silverio ceej@netcom.com ceej@well.sf.ca.us
