Sheesh. How many can I post? Not having the money or time to devote
myself to record shopping...waking up bright and early...first in
the store...smelling that brand new vinyl...oooh, the new release bin...
I've been looking for this for YEARS!...
Sorry, wandered off for a minute there. Anyway, I do my share of
'experimental' purchases, but as is the case for most of us here, you gotta
be pretty selective to get the high bang/buck ratio. And whether the
music moves you or not, you gotta admit the effort expended in finding
some 'idm' music is enough for an emotional attachment on some level.
Good or bad, I hate selling stuff back to the store. But I get over it
once I realize all the new stuff I can buy with the dough.
Here's a few things that'll never see the buyback counter (by *my* hands.

1. Freeze by LFO. I'll be groovin to this one til my hip breaks.
2. Midnight Express and Dissonance by XON. Rkirk's never done better.
3. Phantasised Persecutory Breast, 4WD and Blame by Sevheads
4. The Man who Lived in Books, >1
5. Changing Skies by Jeff Greinke
6. Seers and Sages by Blackdog, hell almost anything by Blackdog (almost)
7. Soundtrack to Perception, Alternation & Resistance. I know the Hafler
Trio is fiction, but what isn't?
8. Firecracker by 808. Freezerfood techno at it best.
9. Palms Crossed in Sorrow, Ebony Tower in the Orient - SPK
New kids on the (chopping) block. It'll be intersting to see how long my
connection to these lasts, but all are very promising.
1. well, um... RELOAD. At the last SpaceLab they followed up Seers and
Sages (see above) with Reload's Ahn. Life ended as I knew it. Le
Soliel, Phase4 and Biosphere just won't let go.
2. Tha by Aphex
3. That Vainquer remix on Basic Channel. Should be illegal to play this
before 3 am.
4. 444 and windwind from Autechre. Looking forward to seeing them Friday.
For a group that seems to have a hard time pinning down 'intelligence,' I
can't imagine us having much more success with 'emotion.' I would guess
there's a bit of each in most music, though the amount may vary. At least
for me emotion is a 50-50 process. Sometimes my attachment is not so much
to the sound as it is to what I think up when I hear it. Everything I've
put on my list has had the decency to meet me halfway though. Freeze
sparked a run of artwork months long. SevHeads has woken or annoyed every
neighbor I've lived near. The ol' XON ep has lived through about six red
flood lights. Novelty or eternal? Only time can really tell.
