I do both kinds of shows. I don't think it matters really, but what I think
is important is that you always tell what you are playing (if you make a
mixed program you can give the tracklist afterwards). I always get upset
when I hear stuff that I like and that I don't know what it is (that's why
I'm not very fond of mixtapes).
As you may have noticed, I also post my playlist in advance to the IDM list
and some other people.
Another thing that I try to do when I play something sought after like the
Caustic Window EP:s is to give the information about the song before it is
played. Since many people in those cases probably want to record it.

Lucky you! I have to play them but sometimes I just don't care about them
-- the radio boss and the advertisers probably don't listen to my program
anyway.

I'm in the same situation, the only interesting stuff I can find at the
radio staion is Underworld, Orbital etc. When I just don't have more new
stuff I take out my list of songs with their BPM:s, find ten good tracks
with roughly the same tempi and make a mixed program instead.

Same here, I'm interested in anything related to IDM or ambient. I'm
especially interested in people's demo tapes. So far I have played
everything I have got sent. So if you're making music, get in contact with
me! I'm offering a taped copy of the very program in exchange (but only if
you request it!).
