Thanks for your replies regarding my tape, Cosmic Strings.
Cosmic Strings is not a profit-making exercise, it`s a device for getting
my music in people`s cassette deck, so I`ll send you a tape if you send me
an SAE and a blank tape (or about a pound). The tape leans towards the
ambient side of things, but here`s some info:
Track listing:
Side A:
1: Helicopters Over Kempshott (helicopter, strange drum sounds, analogueish
strings. Spacey druggy ambient)
2: Jupiter III (a "great track" according to Mindfood fanzine. Pure
ambience with improvised keyboards by me and a pulsy rhythm)
3: Guru (contains "wicked samples" according to Mindfood. Nice ambience)
4: Cosmic Strings (smart track: "excellent mad acid-trance almost Aphex in
style" according to Mindfood. Has a wicked trancey loop and
chords and a good sample which I doubt much of you will
recognise...)
Side B:
1: Econet (cosmic chords and slowed-down sampled beat, together with water
noises, give this a "space aliens in the rainforest" atmosphere)
2: Solaria (experimental: halfway between techno and ambient. Really hard to
describe actually. Sounds nice, but there`s more to it...)
3: Periphery ("standout track" according to Mindfood. Really laidback
ambient dub-ish with a relaxing chord sequence and pretty bassy beat)
4: Planet to Planet (more techno-ey. Quite an invigorating techno track, not
entirely unlike "Visual Contact" on Red Planet 4. A stomper)
There you go! Other comments from the North Hampshire Gazette`s slightly
out-of-touch music page:
"To rise above the mediocre in electronic music you have to either be 2
Unlimited, or you have to be good. Kinetic Illusion definitely fall into the
latter category"
"Cosmic Strings proves that Kinetic Illusion have developed past being
mere bedroom boffins to being electronic musicians of a high calibre..."
"Kinetic Illusion turn the phrase `chill out` from a corny cliche used in
70s blaxploitation movies into an art form..."
High praise indeed! Send SAEs to:
