..What one SPIN Magazine critic thinks of Ricard James' work - you can pick up the latest issue of SPIN, where you'll find quite the flattering review of Selected Ambient Works II. Also in the same issue is a really long piece on Nasa's See the Light tour. Well well well, it looks like our little sceney scene is gettin' some cred with the critics as of late, no? Darshan

The writer of the review is Simon Reynolds, who's been writing for the British music weeklies since the Dawn of Time. He occasionally does freelance reviews for American mags.

I was disappointed with this article, myself: they didn't talk to Mark Gage at all, and the writer seemed to belittle alt.rave's beefs about Moby's "live" performances without going into the points that were raised.

Unfortunately, though, it seems that more often than not they miss the point of the music. Witness the consistently inconsistent reviews in "Option" magazine. | Dave Walker, Detroit Art Services (DAS) | | "If there's still a way to build it | | marmoset@msen.com there'll be a way to destroy it" |
