OK: Direct-to-disk recording as revolution in digital sound? What about
analogue computing and optical drives? This is actually well in advance of
digital computing.
A lot of people have an unquestioning attitude to digital sound. When
people say "I buy both CDs and vinyl" as a compromise, they fail to realise
that they will not be able to buy vinyl in about 15 years time. If this was
not the case, this argument would not be taking place. Both formats should
be allowed to exist.
I agree that the debate is getting a bit tired. May I sum up by saying that
the general consensus is that there is a place for CDs, mainly for home
listening, and that there is a place for vinyl, at clubs and raves
especially? Also, people mainly agree that vinyl should not be phased out
and CDs should not be banned.
Besides, who cares what we think? I doubt Mr Sony or Mr Phillips Audio in
Osaka, Japan, is on idm reconsidering his company`s position. Anyone who
runs a record label, don`t produce CD-only releases and don`t give up on the
vinyl.
Also, analogue synths are much better than digital ones and there is
absolutely no point in arguning about that.
Back to the music: Is the track "Golden Girls" by Kinetic (R&S) by Orbital?
And does anyone have anything on Kenny Larkin`s Art of Dance label? I have
Dark Comedy`s "Cobomite Manoevre" and it`s pretty damn good.

PS Is darko on this list yet?
