quoted 1 line>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
I know I'm pretty new on the list and that I might not be very populaire, but I must give say the truth: I hate dancing! I've never been to a rave and every time I'm at a place where they play disco music (or any music) so loud that my ears just get distorted, I just feel uncomfortable! Still, there is nothing I love more than sitting at home, listening to music like Orbital, Aphex, B12, The Orb, letting my mind drift off. <<<<<<<<<<<<<<< There's nothing wrong about listening to great dance music at home, and some types of dance music are much better for listening to when you're trying to relax, etc, but you are missing out on the entire meaning of the music if you've never been to a rave, or never danced to it before. To put it another way, this music is all about BASS, and you can't hear that type of bass on a home system. Listen to it on a large system at a club or a rave where you can feel the bass vibrate your body and you will know what I mean. Also, certain mind-altering substances seem to increase your affinity for this type of music. Try it sometime, you may actually find you enjoy the whole 'rave' thing...

I hardly thing this is the case with IDM. There is plenty of it that is anything but BASS. Miami Bass music is all about bass. Most of IDM has more to do with Fripp and Eno than house music and bass bins.

That kinda depends on your home system :)

This I do agree with. The environment in which you listen can be a powerful stimulus, in my opinion a really potent environment can give you a high unlike any B-grade chemical, and a rave with a groovy vibe can be fantastic.

This is absolutely NOT true of everyone. Drugs, even the more 'harmless' ones, have widely varying effects on different people. Some people certainly won't have their experience and "affinity" enhanced by these substances. I am one of these people, and I'm not missing a damn thing. IMHO, if you can't appreciate a track without drugs, the track is shit.

This I must second. Anyone who hasn't gone to a rave doesn't know what they're missing. Even if you're not particularly into dancing (like myself) you're apt to enjoy it. - Dan |=|=|=|=\=|=\=|=\=|=\=|=\=|=/=|=/=|=/=|=/=|=|=|=|-------------------------- The 8-BIt Collective - Transmission 23 - edrone dan nicholson, Clonor the Other - Finnish Techno Zyndicate 8bit@vlad.bowker.com -=>ICBM volume one available soon!<=- moddan@vlad.bowker.com "This message has been sent out - did you originate it?"
