for me it's a toss up between two singles from the beginning of 1989-- Julian Lennon's "Now You're In Heaven", a ambitious but bland rock song remixed by William Orbit into typical Guerilla trance bliss. Way ahead of its time. Debbie Gibson's "Electric Youth", which is not absolute crap but is darn close to it. It was remixed by Shep Pettibone on the 12" into some pretty amazing acid house versions. There's also a Latin style mix that turns into acid house at the end... really cool. Mike J. Status: I'd agree, but I much prefer Mr. Sherwood's re-work on DM's Master & Servant in the "On-USound remix" on black/white splat vinyl. Even more twisted. They randomized the MIDI channels throughout the song, so synth sequences come out on the drum pads and drum tracks come out on the synths, etc. You get the idea. Anyway, it is beyond utterly twisted genius. He was just practicin' with "Are People People?"..... And there's just this hilarious hillbilly vocals "da-lang-lang-lang-lannnng, zoom-zoom, bop-bop-bop". A real floor-wrecker. That one usually shuts up the bow-head requests for "play some Depeche Mode, Mr. DJ". if you like those vocals (which i would identify as doo-wop, not hillbilly)... sherwood & crew cut a great record as Fats Comet called "Bop Bop" which features those vocal samples much more prominently. it's also a very cool electro funk number in that hard Tackhead stylee. contemplating a Fats Comet bootleg CD, /jon

I used to play this mix when I was DJ-ing (many years ago), and people always seemed to dig it. It mixed well with stuff like old Meat Beat Manifesto, KMFDM and the Revolting Cocks.

It has to be Orbital's remix of EMF's It's You. Toodle-pip Kev.
