Intelligent hardcore. And no, that's _not_ a contradiction in terms. Jeffs got a bunch of _weird_ old synths that he pipes through loads of effects and distortion boxes, and has a nice knack for taking a basic four-on-the-floor and doing sick, evil things with it over the course or a track.

I haven't heard X-102 yet, but X-103's Atlantis was my second-favorite album of 1993 (right behind Stereolab ;-) ). There are _no_ credits anywhere on the disk, but I've heard from alternate sources that X-103 is: a.) Jeff Mills b.) Jeff Mills and Mad Mike c.) Jeff Mills and Thomas Fehlmann Anyway, imagine Rick Wakeman's "Journey To The Centre of the Earth" recorded at Underground Resistance HQ by a madman with a stack of melting drum machines and an underwater Mellotron... I listened to it one night while reading H.P. Lovecraft and nearly lost it. :) | Dave Walker, Detroit Art Services (DAS) | | "I don't read, I just guess" | | marmoset@msen.com -Happy Mondays, "Wrote For Luck" |
