I hear tell that Warp are pressing up 200,000 copies of the Aphex
Twin's SAW2: 50k for the UK, 50k for the rest of Europe, and 100k
for the US. At a rough guess (from someone in the trade) they will
net Mr. James a cool half a million by the time they are all sold.
Meanwhile, Beaumont Hannant (of Tastes and Textures & Basic Data
Manipulation) reckons that his next album on GPR will have twenty
tracks: ten on vinyl (totalling 68 minutes) and a further ten on CD
(totalling another 72 minutes). Yes, the two formats will have
entirely different track listings! Why? Because otherwise he reckons
half of the tracks will simply never be released: he is already
working on the album to follow.
