Howdy... I still haven't managed to figure out what release an Aphex Twin vinyl I picked up is...no picture sleeve, red label "The Aphex Twin", and the matrix #'s don't help...TR-606 Side x, LTD 1000. Well, it appears as if you are not listening to the Aphex Twin at all. What you have is the red Universal Indicator EP which is credited to a friend of his, Martin. It is not totally clear, however, that RJ had no part in this recording. Mine is stamped "Aphex Twin" too. I also doubt that there is only 1000 copies, as it seems almost everyone has one. Universal Indicator Red, rumored to be only partly contributed to by Richard James.

Universal Indicator Red, rumored to be only partly contributed to by Richard James. As far as I`ve heard, this EP was actually put together by Richard James. It has a partner EP, the blue TB303, which was put together by the Kosmik Kommando (aka Mike Dredd) and is better. Normally both of these EPs are believed to be by afx but the red one is and the blue one ain`t. Ben Dr N will probably confirm... Brendn Nelson

Sounds like a repressing.... the original pressing just had completely plain red labels on both sides. It's on Rephlex Records, and the cat no is TR-606. It's called "Universal Indicator - Red (Acid)" It's part of a two EP set, the other one is Rephlex TB-303: "Universal Indicator - Blue (Alkaline)" Red is by Richard James (Aphex Twin) and Blue is by Mike Dred (Kosmik Kommando). I bought mine shortly after its release and it has "The Aphex Twin" stamped on one side.
